I’m Rich!

Two weeks ago, I went to Macau.
I spent five days in that small Casino city with six fantastic buddies of mine: Hermie Morelos, Gil Ramiscal, Pio Espanol, Roy Pasimio, Tim Duran, and Carl Fontanilla. They also happen to be the “pioneer” leaders of my community, Light of Jesus, and our virtual community, KerygmaFamily. (Get very blessed! Log on at www.KerygmaFamily.com now!) We brought our wives along, so it was doubly fun.
What did we do in Macau?
Nothing.
No talks, no meetings, no sessions.
We talked.
We laughed.
We bonded.
We took lots of photos. (We’re Filipinos!)
We ate lots of Chinese food.
And being in Macau, we visited lots of Casinos.
Not to gamble of course. I mean, we’re Lay Elders of a Catholic group, right?
So we just watched the Casino’s floor show of sexy dancers.
Just kidding.
We couldn’t do that.
Our wives were with us.
Haha!
Seriously, the gang had enormous fun just being together.
When people heard that we were going to Macau for 5 days, they asked me, “Why five days? Macau is so small. After two days, you’ve seen it all.”
You see, it was not Macau that makes the trip great.
The trip was great because of the people I was with.
I’d like to share something special about this group. Do you know how many years have we been serving God together? More than 20 years now. Some of us as long as 27 years.
Here’s the secret: I’ve discovered that we should first of all be friends before we’re fellow-leaders. Once the leaders of a community or prayer group or church stop being friends, the organization will divide. Guaranteed.
So we’ve been friends all these years.
Belly to belly.
Arm to arm.
Shoulder to shoulder.
Smelly armpit to smelly armpit.
We’re Best Buds.
Not that we don’t fight.
We do. Oh, you should hear us argue in our meetings. I’m ashamed to say this, but we even have our tampuhan blues. (How do you translate that in English?)
But we’ve stuck together like glue.
Because we’ve decided to grow old together.
No matter what happens.
Why?
A long time ago, I’ve defined what my wealth is…
My wealth is my relationships.
Not my money.
Not my properties.
Not my investments.
My wealth is my relationship with God.
My wealth is my relationship with my family.
My wealth is my relationship with my friends.
And my wealth is the spiritually and materially poor that I minister to daily.
This is the reason why I’m rich.
Money Is Not My Definition of Wealth,
But It Sure Comes In Handy
For example, I needed money to go to Macau.
And every weekly romantic date I have with my wife requires money too.
Including my dates with my kids.
And my dates with my 83-year old Mom.
I repeat: My wealth is my relationships. Not money.
But I can’t deny that money helps me in my relationships.
Once upon a time, I was poor.
But in the past 10 years, I’ve grown my financial wealth. I now have small businesses, got into real estate, and learned to work the stock market and other paper assets. From being a poor missionary, I now enjoy 16 streams of income flowing into my life.
Because of this, I now send a growing number of poor kids to school, support more missionaries, and give more livelihood to poor families.
Do you want the same experience to happen in your life?
To Be Continued Next Week…
May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez

Hi Kuya Bo, beautiful morning! ^^
Tama ba to, I’m the first one to comment here? Hehe. If so, yay! ^^
Anyway, I truly agree with you with relationships being my wealth. That’s how I see my life eversince and I believe I’ve always been blessed with my loved ones.
Hopefully I’m also in the journey to financial freedom.
God bless and more power to you and your friends.

Indeed Bro Bo. That’s a very good definition of wealth. May we all be wealthy and continue to be wealthy. Be Blessed.
Hi Bo,
Wow! What a wonderful realization. I’m so inspired…
Hi Bo,
Am glad you wrote this message and you talked about this in th Feast last Sunday. With you starting that series of talks about getting rich, I was sort of fearful some of your friends might be “turned off” by your talks. They might accuse you of becoming materialistic and all that. this message should dispel their anxieties and pre-judgments.
I totally agree that our wealth on earth is people but money is necessary to reach out to a lot of people, especially the poor. If I were poor, I cannnot help the poor effectively.
God bless and see you in Baguio.
Rey
hi bro bo, may we learn to share our wealth as we realize how it means to be truly wealthy… Thanks… God bless us!
Dear Bro. Bo,
Last year, i dreamed to celebrate my birthday with kids in the orphanage. Unfortunately, i don’t have any money to spent for that kind of thing. I started playing lotto and joining in the PSR contest in order for me to gain fund for my mission. Well, unluckily, i am a looser. This incident really disappointed me.
Now, my birthday is approaching once again. I am still dreaming that same dream. i wont stop until i will achieve that. I feel in a deepest of my heart that happiness is through sharing love. It is not actually money that i am looking for but the happiness that i will be receiving once i make those kids happy in a little way i can.
[…] I’m Rich! […]
hi bo! my friends and i also went to macau 2 weeks ago. i fell in love with macau. i know one big factor would have to be that i was with my friends. we’ve been friends since grade school, but it was our first time to travel together outside of the country (we’re all working now). the highlight of the trip was skyjumping at the tower. i probably wouldnt have been able to jump if i didnt do it with them! quality bonding time for 3 young ladies (; and yep, we also went inside the casinos with the guards always asking for our IDs hehe.
im a purita now after the macau vacation, but im still rich because i have my friends (;
Hi..i truly agree with your article and to your talk last feast.. 1st of the 9 series of how to become wealthy..i love what lish said to her testimony..”i’m now leading my way to be A HAPPY MILLIONAIRE!”
Being wealthy is up to us, God has given us so much..like an artist. God gave a brush, different colors and He wanted us to draw our life..it is in our hands. God did not create a puppet that can be controlled by a string but He created Human Being. Be a Happy Millionaire! It is not just for us alone, it is something to share!.. these are the key points i’ve learned from you Bo!…and one more thing…
You inspire me even more today because you are a Happy Millionaire!..hahaha!!!
Hi Bo! I agree with you that we should first of all be friends before we’re fellow-leaders. Once the leaders of a community or prayer group or church stop being friends, the organization will divide.Kahit pa mag away -away part ng relationship yun ,ang mahalaga sa ending mahal pa rin ang isa’t- isa , unawain ang kahinaan ng bawat isa para tuloy tuloy ang service ke Lord.

I agree 100%, bro bo!
No amount of money, nor cars & other material things, can give me more joy than my relationships.
Feeling the love, care and support from my family, friends and community make me feel rich! And I’m thankful that God has blessed me with so much love, that i have much love to give as well.
lorie = )
Yes am truly rich with my relationship with my family. Especially to our children Jil Ann, Jerilee and Jan Leo Brian they are my wealth!
Great talk you gave last Sunday Bro. Bo! As usual. I like the part about losing your friends in the process of getting rich, especially the story about the American, German and the Filipino crab. It was funny but it was bulls-eye! You nailed it right on the head.
It reminded me of a text message I read lately that says something like this: It comes with age. You realize It doesn’t matter how many friends you have, but how may real friends you have. Guess who said that? Richie Rich.
God Bless to all.
Hi Kuya Bo,
Thanks for the realization. Indeed relationships are the true wealth. Thanks again…
Bro. Bo
Its so nice to hear again from the spiritual man, you are so truly respectable interms of spiritual words. The Spirit of God indeed is in you always.
You know Bro I’m always refresh when reading your every topics you made, just like now you wealth… I think everybody agrees on you even though we’re already know that money is not the reason to be wealth…
Hope many people read your topics and all people realized that our wealth to God brings us to happiness in our daily life..
Thanks… And I hope I will meet you soon… That is my wish to meet you and to talk with you…
God Bless and Ingat lagi…

I agree. Relationships are treasures because they lead us to a greater treasure— ability to love, which leads us to the greatest treasure of all— God.
God bless you and your ministry Bro. Bo!
I definitely agree. Harmonious relationships with other people especially with your family is the greatest treasure on earth!
It’s really nice to receive a newsletter from a great man. By the way, I am a fresh graduate teacher here in Lucban, Quezon. I wish to see you in person, my idol!
Thank you for those inspiring messages! God bless you always!
Hi Bro Bo!
Eversince I attended the Feast, lots of wondrous things happened to me. I couldn’t imagine, i am now helping 11 scholars. you and Brother Rey Ortega inspired me to do it. and I can say that it’s my bliss to help these students coz i don’t get tired in what i’m doing. Yes, I proclaim that I’m rich, in relationships and i’m on my way to financial freedom as well.
You are an inspiration to a lot of us. Continue to be a blessing and i also pray for your good health always.. I commit to bring more people to the feast coz i feel so blessed everytime i see my friends getting closer to God.
yes relationships are real wealth. i will not exchange my family for anything nor my friends. they are the reason why i still hang on and able to recover from different trials. they know how to make my day fill with laughter and joy. that’s why i often tell them now how much i appreciate all the care and attention they’ve been giving me…
Hi, Br. Bo!
We were on the same flight to Macau. We approached you when your youngest son was sleeping in your bosom, remember? Well, I thought I was reading my own blog when I was reading yours, for indeed it was a blissful experience! Just like you, I was blessed with a fruitful trip with my spouse, along with ten couples, with whom I trod my spiritual journey. We are neighbors from Ayala Ferndale who spend so much time together, i.e., birthdays, graduations, school program and parties like boring parties, fishball parties, etc. Friday is our Fatima and bible sharing time.
The past two Fridays weren’t just enough for reminiscing all the times shared in Macao and Hongkong. And neither a lifetime would do to thank God for a close-to-heaven experience of being loved and to have loved. True … relationships are wealth; love shared is a treasure.
Thanks, too, Bro. Bo for being such an inspiration to us. We look forward to one memorable Friday when you can visit our community. More power and God bless!
Dear Bro. Bo,
A pleasant day to you and to all the readers of this blog. How I wish I can feel the same and to think that all the people around me are my wealth ( my family, my friends, and of course my health ) oppps… dont get me wrong, they are really my wealth. i know that eversince and im happy with all the wonderful things around me. but my happiness will be more complete if i can pay all my debts. whew! ,” lagpas lagpas ulo na”. Kaya nga my husband and I keep on buying lotto ticket kahit very slim ang chance of winning. malay mo suertihin di ba.So that I can really say that “I AM RICH”. “Wow, at this age may millions kaming utang, even I , cant believe how it happened, lumaki ng lumaki dahil sa interest. Well , nandun na yun eh, gusto na naming ma stop, ma settle lahat obligations na kami din naman ang nagpalala. Kaya nga I would like to take this opportunity again to ask for your prayers, please help me through your prayers, sabi nga PRAYERS CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS. “Nothing is imposible with God, in his time nga lang and I do believe, ibibigay niya kaunti pang kulit, baka nga doble doble pa di ba Bro. Bo? Again, thank you sa mga inspiring messages mo at thank you in advance sa prayers na gagawin mo for us. Someday, i wish i can meet you personally para maka join mo sa mga services na ginagawa mo. I’m also dreaming of giving my services to others also in my own little way. MABUHAY ka sir! God bless po.
I agree Br. Bro. =)
Thanks for the inspiring blog entries.
My relationships with my family and friends are also my wealth. I love spending time with them.
I hope I can also be like you, always inspired and determined in doing what you do. I hope I can also help other people and just like you, be able to send poor people to school, teaching them to love life and be good God’s children.
Continue to inspire other people.
God bless!
Hi, Kuya Bo!
Thanks for the enlightenment!
Yes, I agree with you! Our relationship to the people we loved is the most important than anything else.
All the best!
Cathy
good day, Bo!
first of all i would like to thank you for welcoming me to kerygma family, and for the daily inspirational messages u send me. i finally had this chance to acknowledge them…now this article is great. I was actually expecting something material, but geez, i was wrong, and inspired at the same time…as always…by the way, i read the message of a certain “hopeful” and i can relate a little with her. I wonder if I can get in touch with her through this, your blog? thank u.
Thnks Bo!
Thats life… its fantastic spending your precious time with friends and god… money is nothing, but we can earn it with a smile… doing what is good… I’m a leader and a servant… alam ko kailangan ko ng pera para sa mga ginagawa kong projects pero mas kailangan ko ang mga kaibigan na maaring makatulong sa lahat lahat!
Be a Kerygma magazine Reader!
I’m RICH! Thats true!
Dear Bro. Bo,
Good morning as I started listening to your shows in Gabay and then to your Kerygma TV I became rich for I know now that being rich is not only by having lots of money. As I hear a lot of your testimonies, I came to realize my faults as you have said earlier acknowledge them and share them to others for they can be a blessing to others. Your topic earlier was about brokenness that in your brokenness you can find victory. Your biggest problem can be your biggest Blessing.
I really look forward listening in your morning Gabay when I hear you speak I can feel that as If God is the one speaking to me in my heart. Now I am attending your Feast at Valle Verde I have attended 2 Sundays and I pray that I can make it every Sunday thereafter.
Anyway my problem is with regards to my finances my delinquent credit cards balances and my loans. I am really in financial distress and to add up I am a sole bread winner to my 14 year old daughter. I am asking you and your community to pray for me to be financially blessed and truly rich.
I know that God is my provider and He is so generous that nothing is impossible with Him. I believe and I pray that the good Lord will continue to bless you in all areas of your life so you can be a blessing to others and to the whole world.
Sincerely deep in my heart I thank you for helping me daily make my burdens lighter as I listen to you.
God bless and may your tribe increase,
Rose
P.S. I am still thinking what talent or time I can share to others. I pray that God will enlighten my mind and show me the way. Like your talk last 8/31/08 regarding the Widow with 2 sons I have no money except for little oil. I pray that I can use that little that I have to bring God’s glory here on earth.

Hello Bo,
Yes your right!!!
Thanks for all the advises, its a BIG help to me.
Anne
Dear Bro. Bo, mabuhay po kayo tama po kayo tungkol sa mga kayamanan na dapat nating makamtan sa tulong at pagpapala ng Dios ay madarama natin ito basta magtiwala lng tayo sa Kanya maraming salamat sa pagbabahagi mo nito sa akin hihintayin ko ang karugtong more power sa mga ministries mo and continue to be a blessing to others.
Bro. Bo,
You are God’s instrument to many of us.
Thanks.
hello bro bo! I totally agrre with you that money is important if we want to extend help to others. As the saying goes, we can’t give what we don’t have. thank you so much for being an inspiration to our family. in fact, it was through here that I have enrolled my son in homeschooling (CFA).
In this blog, I’m particularly struck at the part where you wrote give more livelihood to the poor. You see, we live in the province of Maguindanao, particularly Datu Piang, where most of the people are poor and affected by war. What is so ironic is that this province is so abundant with natural resources. Maybe it’s in the type of governance and peace and order situation that the province has no progress.
One particular resources I have observed here where it can be utilize to be a source of livelihood are waterlilies that are abundant in Rio grande Mindanao. I learned in the net that it can be used as raw material to make crafts and that Gawad Kalinga Las PiÑas is using it as livelihhood. However, I don’t have any links on how to contact them. I also asked resources from Tekno Tulong but until now no reply from them. I’m just wondering if you have any idea how to contact Gawad kalinga-Las PiÑas so that I can ask how to make crafts out of waterlilies?
There’s always a burning desire to help people here but I’m only an individual with limited rewources. But if I won’t start now, kailan pa?
Hope you can refer me some references regarding this matter, bro. bo. Thanks and God bless.
Hi Bro. Bo,
You are so lucky being assisted by your financial strength. Can I ask you a financial favor? Can I share with your financial reward? How?
You mentioned that you have your investments in stock market, etc, etc.
If you are granting me a favor, please reply to my email ad. alrey6@yahoo.com and I will explain it to you, if you please.
hi bro. bo,
yes, i agree, being spiritually rich is to possess good, happy family and friends, who are our valued treasures, our true gifts from above. you don’t need to be materially rich to have true friends, but if you possess both, the better; you have ” the best of both worlds.” so long as your heart is not being enslaved to the powers of money. i mean, so long as wealth does not possess you, for this leads to endless selfishness and unhappiness; instead, be the master of your wealth / use it in accordance to God’s plan, let your affairs in life be geared towards the welfare of the poor and the needy. “Detachment ” from earthly things is the key word. Jesus said, ” Blessed are the poor in spirit , for theirs is the Kingdom of God.” we empty our hearts from worldly desires/ attachments; thereby in so doing, spiritual joy and contentment starts to fill -in in our being. this requires strength of character to really be spiritually detached from the material. like the body needs exercise, so the spirit also needs to exercise the will , to develop spiritual muscles to resist temptations / the worthless promises that money brings when not used for the good of God’s Kingdom here on earth. God gives us the strength if only we would ask it from Him.
may we all ” gather treasures in heaven… where thieves don’t break in and steal, for where our treasures are, there also will our hearts be.”
thanks once again bro, bo.for this space.
God bless you and your family and friends.

elow po!

hi kuya,

Dear Bo,
I am blessed to have learned the kind of relationship you have built in your community. It amazes me to know how you achieved greater heights in advancing God’s kingdom not only in the Philippines but in other countries as well.
I am 23 years old and works as a financial analyst in Dole Philippines, Inc., Polomolok, South Cotabato. I am also a pioneer of one of the budding Christian communities in our workplace–the Ang Lingkod ng Panginoon-Polomolok Branch. As a young professional, you have served as my inspiration and fueled my passion in making God known to my co-workers. I hope and pray that our group will bloom where we are planted.
May God continue to make us instruments of His good works.
