Wake Up Early!
I’m now an early riser.
I wasn’t like this before. There was a time when I woke up at 7am, sometimes at 8am, and it’s all rush, rush, rush from there. This is so shameful to admit this to all of you, but in my haste, I even tried brushing my teeth, combing my hair, and taking a leak at the same time. (You don’t want to try it.)
A long time ago, I thought I was a night person.
In college, I read in our psychology textbook that there are people who are morning people and night people. Because I slept late and woke up late, I concluded that I was a night person.
Twenty years later, I realized I was wrong. I woke up late because I slept late.
Today, I wake up at 5am. Sometimes, even 4am.
That’s when I do my “inner work”. This sacred time include my morning Tai Chi, cycling on my stationary bike, reading books, writing on my journal, and chats with the Almighty.
Picture this: Before 5am, in the darkness of my backyard, I inhale the cool air and slowly do my Tai Chi movements. It is just wonderful.
By 7am, I do my preliminary work: planning and answering emails.
By 8am, I bike around the village with my boys. We have breakfast and we horse around the house a bit. My favorite part of my day.
By 10am, I’m back in my home office working.
Man, I just love my mornings!
Let me tell you how I wake up early…
Is Your Dream Big Enough To Wake You Up?
People ask me, “Bo, how can I wake up early?”
I can give you lots of advice, but let me start with the most important one: Have a big dream that’s so exciting, it’ll wake you up every morning.
Some people ask, “What dream? I don’t have a dream…”
Perhaps that’s the problem.
If you really had BHAG Dreams (Big Hairy Audacious Goals), you’ll have no problem waking up in the morning.
Are you excited with life?
Do you believe that God made you for greatness?
Write down your dreams. Read them everyday. Talk about it with your friends. Get passionate about life!
Don’t Lounge, Just Stand Up
Years ago, I had the habit of waking up but staying in bed for a few more minutes just to rest a bit. I always felt that my sleep wasn’t enough. Sometimes, because I chose to lounge around the warm bed, I wake up really late.
So it was rush, rush, rush again.
Not wise.
I’ve now decided to do something very simple: the moment my eyes open, I stand up. That’s it. This little habit has worked miracles for my day.
I stand up and start my morning ritual.
When you study successful people in business, many of them wake up early.
I know that my financial mentors (who are either multimillionaires or billionaires) wake up early too.
Why not you?
May your dreams come true,
Bo Sanchez
PS. Mentors may be your missing link to success. Do you want to gain financial abundance? It’s the mentors that made the difference for me. (For example, I learned that they all woke up early!) Hey, I’m giving a TrulyRich Financial Coaching Program this March 21 and 28. You don’t want to miss this. These very same mentors who helped me achieve my financial success will be with me to teach you in these two power-packed days. For more information, click here now!

this post is very timely. I ought to wake up earlier but I just have all the reasons not to. sigh
how can i push my lazy butt out of the bed early in the morning and doze off earlier at night.
Also, very timely for me, because i always think of getting early for me to be able to exercise but due to laziness i never had a chance to do it. Now im inspired to do it. thanks bro. bo..
This is so true. To wake up early you must sleep early too and that means not watching late night TV shows, etc, etc.
For me the best time of the day to exercise is early morning…and I mean when it’s still a little dark outside. To see the sun rise every morning is always a breathtaking view for me.
They say that you have two choices in the morning - wake up and work on your dreams or wake up and dream some more. The choice is yours.
Very true indeed! It’s like the saying, “The early bird gets the worm.”
haha! crazy, but true. how timely. I’m thinking of working it out. to wake up early and strive for my dreams. unfortunately, I haven’t written some of my most recent goals yet. goodness, I think I really need more discipline now.
By the way, Bro. Bo, I attended your truly rich seminar last Saturday. Seemed that you too were a bit sleepy then. Haha. I and my boyfriend are planning to attend your coaching program. We’ll spend most of our savings, (we are only ordinary employees=0) but I do hope that it’ll be worth it. I also hope to play Cashflow game with you. We encountered a community that inspire people to get rich and help people, and the good thing is that they just conduct their free wealth course and the games as well just here in Ortigas. Hope you can find time to play with us, Brother Bo! It will be a pleasure to learn along with you. God bless!

Thanks for sharing this bro.bo - it’s a source of comfort that everybody even you - my favorite preacher struggled also with waking up early in the morning. Thanks for inspiring me.
I always wake up late coz i sleep late….part of the blunders in getting hooked on the net. Though i know that it takes discipline to be able to balance and give time for everything.Well that is what really i need t work on…if you have overcome it …i think i can overcome it too…thank you. God Bless you more and more!
Hi Bro Bo!
I can really relate to this, well not because im an early riser, but because i am the opposite.. and i even make it a habit to set my alarm at 5:30, turn it off when it rings, go back to bed just to rest for another 30 minutes and just wake up at 6:00am.. i dont know, i really tried to change it though.. when i got hired with my current work, i really am very excited to get up early, but eventually that excitement wore off.. i dont know maybe partly because some of my siblings do not believe in my work and they usually oppose on my ideas. At first i really believe in the opportunity that my new worked had opened up for me, it just entails a lot of hard work.. but when i tried to share it with my sisters, they just dont see it my way, they dont seem to understand my passion for my work, and would even tell me that the chances of being successful with it is very narrow.. that wasnt so encouraging and it really made me so depressed. Although i did try to just try not to think about it too much or dwell on the negative things. I try to be positive about my work. Yet, i just couldnt deny or hide its effect on me.. Help me bro, i really needed someone to enlighten me. How do i stay positive amidst all contradiction and all those discouraging words? Please do help me. I would really appreciate it.. I want someone to shed a light as to the reason why they are contradicting me, i need someone to explain even on their own point of view. I dont have so much outlet for all my troubles, doubts anxieties and depression. Please help.. Thanks for writing this though.. I have the feeling that you must have understood what it feels like to feel so down and degraded that hamper all your efforts and struggles to leave your negative mentality and be positive. More power Bro and GobBless Always.
for those who wanted to give me their own opinion on my case, please email me at chemsi_27@yahoo.com.. it doesnt have to be all positive or sympathetic words.. just be honest because i just want to understand.. coz maybe through it, i can have peace of mind. Thank You so much
Thanks Bro. Bo.
This is just the push that I needed.
Though I probably have to work hard to have my sleeping patterns fixed, that’s ok. I found a new motivation: Have a DREAM or GOAL.
I’m really happy today.
Very timely indeed. Just the dose I need.
Thanks, this just confirms a good habit. I always wake up early and 99.9% on time to my appointments. When I was young I read that only 10 percent of late comers are successful. So I live the quote “Early to bed, early to rise makes a person healthy and wise”. I deplore “Pilipino time” (always late). Sometimes we are late for many reasons but to be chronically late is irresponsible and disrespectful. In church I see that it is always the same people who are late and they even walk and sit in the front pews. And yes they are Filipinos. I just want to bury my head under the sand. I hate the bad habit not the people.
Hi,
Why I am not receiving soulfood emails anymore?
I always read the newsletter of Bo but recently almost 1 month that I am not receiving it already..
Thanks hope to hear from you.
PS. sorry if I pasted it here
This is very timely for me too! (I really felt that God speaks to me through you.)
I’ve always wanted to wake up early…I almost succeeded in developing this habit but recently, I found myself sleeping late, and waking up late again. This is the push I need. Thank you. You’re always inspiring.
Hi, Yes true God really wakes up me early morning, by 3am all I need to do is to get my rosary and start my ritual prayer and meditations until 5am, I will start listening to radyo veritas and do prepare the breakfast for my family. For me an early morning wake up, means being with God. For it is going to be rush, rush , rush day if I will not do it. Thanks for the column.
“Are you excited with life?
Do you believe that God made you for greatness?”
—I think this will motivate me now to wake up early…
Thanks Bro. Bo!

thank you for sharing this to us Bro. Bo.
Thank you so much.
i’m trying now to wake up early to start a new day…
and i realized that it’s a great feeling when you wake up that early and feel the coolness in the air and see the sun starting to shine…
hi Bro. Bo!
it’s my first time to visit your site and read your blogs.
i became intrested to read this one because i can really relate to it. hehe.
i too, used to sleep very late just doing senseless things like watching the tv or chatting, but still, i can wake up early. but this routine doesn’t do me any good. i know it can deteriorate my health.
so i promised myself that i will sleep as early as i can. it’s kinda hard, but i know i’ll get used to it.
i’ll follow your advice.
thank you for sharing this one bro. bo.

Hi Kuya Bo,

Now i know what I can do to ALWAYS get up early in the morning so I would never have to rush. I always be reminded by the BHAG Dreams!
Thank you for being a blessing.
God bless us all!
Hi!
Bro.Bo,
Good morning!
I am interested to join your Truly Rich Financial Coaching Program /on September 18 to 19, 2009. But my schedule will not allow me to do so aside from the fact that I am in Cebu.
I am a single and eager to change my financial status as to keep on dreaming big dreams.
Hope you can bring your team in Cebu for the Cebuanos to enjoy the same blessings you’ve showered them.
Ave Maria,
elena
hi there..
i love waking up early.. i love the feeling of cold morning. Seeing early risers sweeping their backyard. The smell of pandesal in the nearby bakery. It feels so peaceful and life seems to have full of hope. But i don’t get to do this often. I worked in a call center and my schedule is forver night shift. But when i get the chance to wake up early. Dawn always makes me feel closer to the Lord.
