My Greatest Blessing For 2008
Who said you can’t have fun on a budget?
Last July, to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, my extended family of 28 all flew to Boracay for five days. Just imagine how much we spent.
But this Christmas 2008, we spent a meager P6000 only. Because fun doesn’t mean expensive. Fun means you’re with people you love. So we went for a whole-day swim in a lovely Bulacan resort. Yep, we had the beautiful place exclusively to ourselves for only six thousand buckeroos.
And we brought our own food. My sisters cooked Adobo. (We’re Filipino, remember?) And my brother-in-law brought Tuna Panga for me and grilled it on the spot. With tomatoes and wansuy. And a gigantic pot of hot steaming rice good for 60 people. (Did I say we’re Filipino?) For desert, my niece brought buko pandan with jello. Yum!
Not all of us swam. Most of us were lazy bums sitting around the pool, eating chichiria, playing board games, and belting 80’s songs in the Videoke.
In the midst of all the fun, I saw Mom in a corner. I caught her crying. She missed Dad who went to Heaven last year. I missed him too.
That’s when I began to think of 2008… (To be continued below)

Oh, it was awesome. 2008 was so blessed. My ministry flourished. My business grew. My health improved. Even my eyesight improved (I no longer wear eyeglasses.) The blessings are too much to count.
But if you’d ask me, “Bo, what was your greatest blessing for 2008?” I would have to say, “My relationships.” At the end of the day, life is built on them. We only have a very short time to enjoy the people we love. And this “short time” is what I’m profoundly thankful for.
For example, my marriage is blessed. I love my wife more than ever. I love talking with her. I love sitting beside her after a long day. I can’t imagine life without this lovely girl. (Proof of how fantastic she is: I only have one vice and she gives it to me—Every night, she serves me a10 minute foot-massage. Isn’t she incredible?)
This 2008, we also took our family meals four notches higher. (1) All of us sit around the table from beginning to end; (2) We don’t answer any phone or text during mealtime; (3) We close the TV set; We don’t read newspapers; (4) We totally engage each other in conversation. Because of these four simple decisions, our meals have enriched our relationships.
My two boys? Just phenomenal. They make my mornings the greatest part of my day. We spend lots of time talking and having our little breakfast dates.
My relationship with my mother and my sisters—and their families—are my treasure. And my parents-in-laws are God’s great bonus to me. They love me more than they love their daughter. (Just kidding.)
And how can I start talking about how wonderful my friends are? (I wrote about them in another Blog entry entitled Warning: This Will Make You Hungry.)

My two boys rarely fight. Because Bene always acts like the elder brother that he is. In other words, he lets his younger brother win most of the time.

I terribly miss my family in pinas!! ika nga there’s no place like home, but then even if im 3hr flight far away i never forget to thank GOD how blessed my year is! 2008 is awesome for me, I got a new job in one of the main con company in singapore, my bf decided to work here also just to be with me (kinda sweet hehehehe), my family just visited me last july, then i fly to KL with dong, then KL again with my sis (wow) what a year…really I thanK GOD for making me feel so special.. Happy New year to you all…. Ive got a blast last year too… Had a great work… and thank God I still have …( financial crisis right ) …. I’m still Healthy… ( if you know me probably you will say Oooh Yahhh right) still Alive and kicking… Got good friends who stayed through thick and thin… Ive met new friends…. went to some places…. My family and relatives support and prayers… my Mom visited us here in Dubai…. and I married the most beautiful, caring, patient, funny and loving girl…( oopsss forgot to say sexy =) and lastly I received God’s blessings and protection…

Tanong ko lang po about sa “BURN YOUR BOAT” paano ko po malalamang yung pagbubuhusan ko ng lakas ay tama?Paano ko po malalaman kung will nga po ni lord ay yung bagay na pipiliin ko o paano ko po mapagdedesisyunan kung tama ba o mali yung bagay na pagpapakamatayan ko????paano ko po ba mapipili yung tamang pagsusugalan ko kung hindi ko naman po alam anu dun yung dapat bitiwan???
pinag pray ko na po yon…pero paano ko po malalaman kung yun na yung sagot ni lord???mahilig po kasi akong mahulog sa mga assumptions…madalas akong masaktan dahil doon… paano ko po malalaman certified may pahintulot ni lord yung pagbubuhusan ko ng buhay?
I thank the Lord for 2008! For all that happened , for times i got failed, for times i was taken advantage of, for times i missed to grab opportunities but most specially for the times that i was able to realize how good God is to me all the time.
For giving me this desire to always be a delight to Him everyday. Even in small things that often times i don’t want to do but i choose to do it because every time i do it i know that i serve Him more and i win over myself , my pride, my insecurities. And for that I thank Him more for every step forward i was able to take.
I thank Him for year 2008 for that awesome grace of relying to Him alone. And by always recognizing Jesus presence everyday of my life, I thank Him for this great hope that I look forward with Him.
I thank the Lord for bringing me to people that I can learn and grow with.
And I thank God for the more blessings to come that He has stored for this year 2009!

I missed listening to you in person during feast…I used to be regular attendee of The Feast when I was in Cebu but since Sept. of 2008 I transferred work and now I’m in Bohol. It has been a struggle for me not to attend talks and conferences (I am a Singles for Christ leader in Cebu). But Bro. Bo, thanks to your websites where I am still able to be nourished spiritually, I joined your Truly rich club and kyregma family and the daily “God whispers” has been my guide everyday.
For 2009, I know in my heart that God has plan for me while I am here in Bohol…I pray that I can be able to see you once again this year in person.

2008 for me is a mixed year, 1st half part of the year is a struggle… tears overflows due to heartaches, trials in the family, crisis in the office. but even though, we & my family encountered the said disturbances, i am still thankful to God, for in those special times, we truly feel His Divine presence. He showers us with true friends, who stands & support us with encouragements, relatives who kneels with us in prayers, & the heartfelt feelings of knowing that we are not alone in those times. but then, we were able to surpass it all & hoping that the coming years to come will totally heal the wounds we had. i know God will give His blessings for this.
i thank God also for the sustainance, & for all blessings, last quarter of 2008 was a great part. i was able to transfer to a new job with an wide acceptance from my new officemates, my husband is so supportive of me throughout the year (he is a great blessing for me & he will for the rest of my life), the love i have for my parents get stronger & stronger ( i owe to them my family virtues) - hope to be able to spend a lot of happy times with them. i love my papa & mama so much. their presence is a great pleasure for me.
hope & pray that the Heavenly Father will continue to bless us more & more. & may we be able to appreciate each moment of our life as a gift from Above.

2008 brought so much blessings to me — I earned my MA degree; I was promoted; I took part in the 3rd oath taking of guidance counselors last Sept. 28 at the Manila Hotel; and I became permanent in my present work (after 6 years!).
The greatest blessing of 2008 is my family (we are all healthy and financially blessed). Moreover, my relationship with my close friends, cousins, and workmates are all healthy.
I pray that God will continue to bless me and my loved ones. I also pray He’ll give me my GB (God’s Best) this year!!!! Please pray for me

I agree. Relationship is really one of the most important thing in the whole world that we need to built and strengthen on - may it be with your family, friends, colleague and even to people you really don’t know with.
My 2008 was full of blessings too since God was prevalently working in my life. He’d given me and my family strength, courage, guidance and peace of mind.
In addition, I had a nice vacation back home in the Philippines. I got the chance to visit or spend quality time to all of the people that matters in my life (especially my family and the Sisters of the Company of Mary).
Until the last quarter of the year, I was blessed with a good job in a new company here in Dubai (plus a bonus of pogi at magaling na boss).
Hence, I am too grateful to God for everything. I know He will continue to bless me and my love ones this year and the coming years.
By the way Bo, you have wonderful photos especially the one captured in hanging frame.

2008 was one of the best years in my life because I chose it to be. (1 bonus: a chance to be prayed over by bro Bo!).
It has been four years since I got a 2nd lease on life. Since then, I learned to appreciate life more and create great relationships.
My prayer for this year is for my every day to be lived in God’s glory. May my life continue to be a reflection of God’s greatness. To be healthy and happy. To spread the blessings. To share the Love. To enjoy every moment of life (very few people knows how to enjoy life).

For me, I consider 2008 a year with so much blessings not materially but spiritually. I was blessed with a “dream come true “. I joined a pilgrimage to Europe ( France and Rome), places where most of our saints originated and apparitions of our Lady happened. I encountered many difficulties in the processing of our visas but if its God’s will all things will be ironed out and “PRESTO’” unbelievably I was already in Rome!
This year, 2009, I consider myself materially poor because of the expenses I spent last year But I am SPRITUALLY RICH and this riches I resolve to share to every person that I encounter!

i found out last dec 6 that i am pregnant and from that moment on, i never heard anything anymore from my bf….
but i can still say that 2008 was a great year for me.
and considering my situation here being pregnant w/o a husband, and maybe be included in the retrenchment in our company, im still hopeful for this year 2009.

How I wish that my relatioship with God will be like yours so that he can also bless me the way he does for you. I’m longing to have a fantastic relationship with ny family as well. Most of the time I feel I’m living alone though I have companion. Only by thinking of God’s presence I feel comforted knowing that He is the only one who never leave me alone.

In retrospect, marami nga akong blessings! To name a few: dalawa sa anak ko ay nakapunta at nakapagtrabaho sa Dubai. This year, naging consultant pa yong asawa ko sa LGU (kahit maliit lang pero kumita). And most of all mild lang ang mga asthma attacks ko sa 2008.. and so on and so forth.. w/c means marami pa po. Truly God is good all the time.
By the way, nice pictures - I think you’re a good role model for men. Kung parehas unta sa imo ang tanang mga bana, malipayon gyud unta ang usa ka pamilya!
