Last week, I wrote about how we can discern God’s will for us. The first part is about listening to the “Inner Voice”.

Here’s the second way He speaks to us…

2. Inner Values

God speaks through your Conscience.

When your conscience says, “Do not lie,” and “Do not cheat,” and “Do not steal,” that’s also the voice of God.

The Bible says, I will put my law within them, and I will write it upon their hearts… (Jeremiah 31:33)

Here’s a problem: Your conscience is like a cellphone. It needs to be recharged, or it goes dead.

Every human being has a conscience. Sometimes, it isn’t very obvious. Yes, senators and congressmen have a conscience. (Hehe.) But sometimes, some people’s consciences have not been recharged. So their consciences are dead.

Some neophyte politicians start with the purest intentions. But little by little, their conscience loses its power. After awhile, stealing doesn’t bother them anymore. In fact, they even pray before they steal, “Bless Lord the pork which we are about to receive…”

What should you do? Power-up your conscience. How? Plug your conscience in God’s Word everyday. Read the Bible. Read spiritual books. Study Church Teaching. Listen to Talks. Hang out with Spiritual Mentors.

In other words, you’ve got to plug your conscience into God’s Heart. Here’s what I realized: If you want to know God’s Will, you’ve got to have God’s Heart.

One day, I received this email…

“Brother Bo, I’m having an affair with a married man; We deeply love each other; But his wife is not letting go of him; Please help me pray that my husband finally separates from his wife so he can marry me…”

I wrote back…

“I will pray for you, but I can’t pray for your specific request. Let me give you a warning: When you become his wife, what will prevent him from having another affair?”

According to this woman’s conscience, there was nothing wrong with breaking another person’s family.

I urge you, pray everyday, “Lord, write your Law in my heart.”

May your dreams come true,

Bo Sanchez
