Beta means it’s still a work in progress.

          I didn’t know that before.

I thought “Beta” meant “Beta Max”. Which only shows how totally ancient I am. (Stop laughing. Some years from now, younger people will laugh at you because you’re part of the “ancient DVD generation”. Hmph!)

For all the infants and toddlers and fetuses out there who don’t know what “Beta Max” is, that’s the video version before VHS.

By golly gee, things change.

I pity my son. He never even saw my first “brick” cell phone. You could use it for self-defense. And biceps training.

Or how about dolls? My sisters had a few of those little thingamajigs. All they did was stare at you with extremely long eyelashes. But have you seen the new dolls lately? They can now cry, laugh, burp, walk, jump, run, pee, speak French, and do your financial statements.

In one sense, you and I are all in Beta version. (Isn’t that fantastic?)

You are I are still a “work in progress”. The Bible says that God will finish the work He has begun in us. That’s why He is patient with our defects.

We need to be patient with ourselves too. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Beta versions mean it has kinks. It’s got a long way to go. But a day will come when it will be perfect.

Which brings me to BoPlanet (Beta).

My friend Jun Mercader created BoPlanet, our very own social network for my dearest friends. It’s like our very own Facebook! Create your own account, build your own little groups, tell the world about your stories, photos, or videos. Most of all, you’ll have fun!

Repeat: It’s a Beta. We have a long way to go, but it’ll be great to join it when it’s small and starting and struggling. You’ll see it grow.
