Have You Received The Rewards Of Your Giving?

Like any ordinary boy, my 4-year old Francis sometimes quarrels with his playmates. We hear him shout, “Mine! Mine! Mine!”

So for two years now, we’ve been teaching him how to share his toys. We’ve told him, “Francis, sharing is good!” It’s almost a mantra we repeat to him.

We also remind him of the rewards of sharing. “Francis, if you share your toys with your playmates, you’ll have more fun. You’ll gain more friends. You’ll cry less.”

Yesterday, my wife went with our little boy to eat. He ordered fried chicken and palabok. He then asked his mother, “How about you, Mommy?”   My wife was touched, elated that the 4-year old was thinking of her.   But then the little guy added, “Mommy, why don’t you order French fries? Then you can share it with me. Remember, sharing is good!”

Yes, sharing is good.

What I tell Francis applies to you too: If you share, you’ll have more fun everyday. You’ll gain more friends. And you’ll cry less! Because I believe many of our problems come from not sharing.

Friends, let me introduce you to one of the most powerful forces in the universe. This one thing will give you miracles, deepen you happiness, enrich your relationships, unite your family, prosper your job and business, make your body healthier, and bring you closer to God…

What could this force be? Hint: It’s the real G Force.

Yesterday, I welcomed again this force into my life…

You Don’t Receive Your Rewards Only Once!

Yesterday, I spent the afternoon playing with my boys.

We drew spaceships, airplanes, and roller coasters. We played a video game. (Can you imagine me, a 43-year old guy, playing with his 4-year old kid, Mariocart? I’m nuts.) And finally, I brought Francis to the barbershop. We didn’t have a car yesterday, so we rode the tricycle together. Francis loved it so much. Every time we passed over a hump, he raised his arms and said, “Wheee!”

When we were in the barbershop, Francis had so much fun getting his haircut, making faces on the mirror, twirling on the barber’s chair, laughing and singing the entire time. He was so happy.

But guess who was happier? The Daddy, of course.

Yesterday, I was generous with my time with the kids. Despite a mountain of work that I had to do (including this article), I put it all aside and spent time with the boys.

Instantly, I receive the reward of my generosity. Just listening to the happy laughter of my kids was music to my soul. It made me feel wonderful. It removed my stress, made me healthier, and refreshed my spirit.

Friends, there is an absolute law written in the fabric of universe. It states, “When you give, you will receive a reward.” Always. No exceptions. Oh yes, there can be delays. Sometimes you’ll have to wait for a long time. But the reward will always come.

And the Bible also says that we will receive more than what we give. Example: In the years to come, I know I’ll receive an even greater reward for spending time with my kids yesterday. Because they’ll grow up to be men secure in their father’s love.

It doesn’t end there. In Heaven, I’ll receive even greater rewards. (More on this next week.)

Let me explain why you get rewards.

Too Full To Receive Anything Better

In my talk yesterday, I showed people a big fishbowl filled with grey stones. It was overflowing with them. I then showed some gold nuggets. (Okay, they really weren’t gold nuggets. They were stones covered with gold paper, but don’t spoil my illustration. Imagine them to be really gold nuggets!)

Even if I wanted to put gold nuggets in the bowl, I couldn’t, because it was already filled with stones.

This is a perfect picture of a selfish person.

God is a generous God. He wants to give us better things. But He can’t do that if there’s no space to receive new and better things in our lives.

I then removed one stone from the bowl. I explained to the audience that the first reward of giving is “space”. And space is beautiful. Space means we can grow.

I placed one gold nugget in the bowl, and explained, “Some people give only a little and so receive only a little. But there are people who give more,” I explained, removing more grey stones from the bowl, “and thus create more space for God’s new blessings.” I quickly filled the bowl with more gold nuggets.

Remember, when we don’t receive much, the problem is not in the Giver. The problem is in the Receiver. The Lord wants to give more to our lives (that’s His default posture), but the Receiver has not created enough space to receive more.

And friends, the universe abhors space. The universe will fill up that space with better things.

But what if you don’t get your rewards?

Real Generosity

One person asked me, “But Bo, I’ve been giving and giving and giving all my life—but I haven’t been receiving my rewards!”

Perhaps because it may not be generosity at all.

You see, there are two types of giving that happens in the world.

1.     When we give because we love

2.     When we give because we want to be loved

Look. There’s nothing wrong if you want to be loved. It’s your most basic need. But friends, never use generosity as a way of getting love. That’s toxic. You call that co-dependent love and it’s lethal. Pleasing people so that they will love you is slow suicide.

If your “Love Tank” is empty, you need to do two things. First, ask God to love you. And second, love yourself. Unless you learn to be generous to yourself, your generosity will not be real.

My friend Mila (not her real name) was such a woman. She always gave gifts to her friends. Food. Clothes.  Flowers. Sometimes, expensive stuff like cellphones and Ipods. People would tell her, “Oh, you’re so generous.” But deep within, I know Mila is one of the most miserable people on earth. She’s constantly depressed. Because she has no true friends. Her friends are there simply because she gives them stuff. People abuse her constantly, asking things from her.

Mila isn’t receiving the rewards of her generosity because she’s not really generous. She is needy.

When you give out of need, you will become even more needy. But if you give out of love, you will receive more love.

Remember the bowl with grey stones? Mila gives away her white stones—creating space in her heart. But because she’s giving out of need and fear and not out of love, misery and bitterness fill up that space she created.

I repeat: Real generosity is giving out of love, which fills our lives with more love.

And let me share with you the biggest reward of generosity.

The Greatest Reward Of Giving

My friend and fellow preacher Arun Gogna just came from Japan. He met a Filipina there who told him a wonderful story.

Years ago, this Filipina married a Japanese man. Her husband was earning very well and asked her to manage his money. So every payday, he gave all of his money to her.

This Filipina loved God and wanted to follow Him in the area of giving. So she gave 10% of her husband’s earnings to the Lord. When the husband—who was an atheist—found out about it, he asked her, “What are you doing with 10% of my salary?” She said, “I give it to my God.” The amazing thing was that he didn’t object at all. He let her be. So she continued to do it every single month.

Here’s the great news: A few years later, this man converted and is now a baptized Catholic. Today, with his wife, he serves in a ministry in a Church in Japan.

What’s so beautiful about this story? Even before he got baptized, he was already generous to a God whom he didn’t fully know.

          My point?

Generosity brings you closer to God.

          Let me tell you why.

Your Heart Follows Your Treasure

Last year, I bought stocks in Ayala Land.

I noticed that whenever I read the newspaper, I would be very interested to read anything about Ayala Land. I would read their Ads. I would ask people in the industry about what’s happening to this company.

Before I bought stocks in this company, I didn’t give a hoot. I didn’t care. I didn’t read their articles or their ads.

Why the change? Simple: The Bible says that my heart follows my treasure.[1] Wherever my treasure goes, my heart will go there too.

When your money goes to God, your heart goes to Him as well. Yes, even if He really doesn’t need your money.

Tithing Is A Declaration Of

God’s Importance In Your Life

          God doesn’t need your money.

But why is it that the Bible says over and over again, “Give the first fruits of your harvest to God”?[2]   Yes, God doesn’t need your money, but God wants what your money represents. Money represents value. What do you value the most? When you make God your first expense, you’re saying that God is first in your life.

Tithing is a declaration that all things—including your life—belong to God. The Biblical standard of 10% is a fantastic guideline to follow. When you give 10%, you’re saying that 100% belongs to God. Tithing is your declaration of God’s ownership over your life. God gave all that you own. When you die, you’ll give it all back. So all you have is lent to you. You’re a steward of His assets. As stewards, you use material blessings for His purposes. That’s what you declare when you tithe.

Friends, I invite you to give because you love.

And receive the fantastic rewards of generosity.

       May your dreams come true,

       Bo Sanchez

  1. W0w.. Francis is so funny..Hihi.
Tnx Bo f0r bringing us closer to God.

  2. Bo do you also give 10% of your monthly income?

  3. Bro Bo, I would like to ask. The 10% of income should be given literally to the Church or it can also be given like say to help someone or the street children?

And thank you for the nice article. We really should allow God to shower us more with blessings. It is really true that when God closes us a door, He opens up new windows. Only shows that God will never leave us no matter what.

  4. Hi Jay, as far as I know Kuya Bo wants to give 90% to God and live for the 10% only ;)….anyway what a great story..hahaha actually this blog fits my life situation right now… Totoo talaga ang kasabiha na pag nag bigay ka times 2 ang kapalit!! panalo.. and now I love giving and sharing some things that i have to other people. It feels really good as in. make my family, friends and other people happy, to the highest level ang feeling hehehe…

  5. Hi bro Bo!

Thanks for reminding us to share and be generous to others. I especially liked the part on tithing. Someday, I look forward to giving my tithes without making computations. That’s how generous I want to be towards Him.

Please pray for me brother Bo as I am struggling financially. I’m thankful for the commonplace everyday blessings though.

    God bless.

  6. Hello Bro. Bo,

Thanks for the inspiring article. I am a living witness with tithing. You’re one of the reasons why I know how to tithe and experience abundant blessings from God.

You were here in Iloilo in a Kerygma Feast and one of your talk was about tithing. And I was inspired to tithe but that time I only have 200 pesos in my wallet and I have this feeling that I must give 100 pesos. I was bit hesitant coz that money is for the milk of my baby but I have this feeling that I must give what’s for God and I said “bahala na” after that I give the envelope and I have this feeling of euphoria in me that I can’t explain. I was not worried for my baby’s milk coz I know that God will provide. And yes He did provide coz next morning someone give us 1000 and my client told me that I will work with him independently that means that I will earn 2-3 times more than working in the office. :)

Actually, I have lots of exp about tithing and I always told my fellow sisters and brothers in the community that Tithing works! It’s all about trusting God in what He can do.

I remember that I only tithe 20 pesos per month before and now almost 1k. It means that I am prospering with God’s Grace. Actually it’s almost 1% only of what I am earning. I’m still learning how to tithe 10% of my income … hehheheheheh

Thanks Bo for teaching us again.

    Dian

  7. Ang galing! Masarap pala yung nagbibigay ka ng buong puso sa Panginoon! Since Bro. Bo preached about the tithes as a symbol of surrendering your finances/things with great value to the Lord, I realized that “ok lang, Siya naman ang may bigay nito e… “. It’s a way of surrendering your finances under the HIS lordship. Kaya excited ako pumila papunta sa basket ng love offering tuwing The Feast kasi ang sarap-sarap ng feeling ng nagbibigay.

  8. I thank God for you brother Bo. For a long time, I’ve always thought that tithing is a thing of the past. For a long time, Bro. Mike of El Shaddai have always taught us strongly about tithing but my greedy mind would always reason out that it doesn’t apply nowadays. Churches are richer, they have more real estate than a lot of people, they have riches at the tip of their hands. In the days of the Old Testament, God orders His people to tithe so His temple servants, having no properties of their own, can have something to eat. So the widows and the foreigners can have something to eat. But today, churches are wealthy, most of them, I believe. That’s why I refuse to give tithes to those churches and I said to myself that if ever I give my tithes, it will be to those who are really having no money to buy food, shelter and other neccessities of life. Have I been so greedy, brother?

  9. Dear Bro. Bo,

Your blogs are really inspiring. I want to share with you a video which is also inspiring. I dont know if you have watched this already because it was in 2008. Anyway, I’ll just put the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8uR6Z6KLc

    God bless you more!

  10. Thanks again Bro Bo for reminding us the art of giving.. It feels good to share to others God’s blessings and I know you will be more blessed when you give out of love…

  11. HI Bro Bo…This is my 2nd week on reading your article about love and to be near to our Lord. I thank god for knowing your website with the advice of my sister.

Since im struggling on my financial difficulties but i trust him and hope that one of this days, i can share my blessings and have a peace of ind always with my Family.

    Thanks always Bro Bo.

  12. Thank you for letting me know the real value of giving.

  13. Just like your previous articles, this one G-force is a very powerful reminder for me. It is one of my dreams to give more than 10% of my income tohelp spread God’s word. As of this time since I still am within the quagmire of debts, i try to give 10% of the net income (gross less tax) I get every payday. I do this out of obedience and have disciplined myself to set aside immediately the 10% after I receive the paycheck. next I pay my creditors and household bills and the remainder for my personal use. More often it’s just transpo money to go to & from the office everyday and to attend the feast at Valle verde. My immediate reward is intangible….I have not been tempted to buy on impulse despite the sale signs all around me..my appetite for simpler more nutritious food has been enhanced and therefore I am healthier — no extra expense for medicines, I learned to commute thru public transportation and it’s ok for me to walk long distances (exercise for me)….The cash and financial freedom I trust God that it will come soon.
Thanks for the daily nourishment of my soul Bro Bo. :)

  14. Hi Bo,

    What a wonderful article.

Can you give directly to the poor instead of the church? Will it matter?

    Regards
    Buddy

  15. your article is so inspiring…..

God is really good………….. He knows who are those that need help and guidance (particularly on financial matters)………… i know i’m one of those because even i have a very little income to spend with my family ………… we still survive the difficulties in life…………..

Trust God with all your heart. do not rely on your own insights…………(proverbs: 3:5-6) this will likewise help us in our day to day living.

Thank you God Bless Us all……….

  16. I have been blessed in my life and so I decided to share a little of my blessings to others. I feel good because I know I have helped some people in making their dreams come to a reality.

As regards to my friends and family, it always feel good to hear a sincerest Thank You from them.

I know with my simple act of generosity, I have not only make other people happy but God as well.

  17. Not too inspiring.

You said: First, ask God to love you.

Is that necessary? God is love, remember John 3:16?

Tithes of 10% is a law given only to Israel and not to Christians.

Hebrews 7:11 Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?

Hebrews 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law.

Change of the law including the giving of tithes.

2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

  18. tnx brO. Bo…

It reminds me how important to givE bEcausE of lovE…

  19. Hi Bro!
Thanks for always inspiring us..i remember my childhood days when i give tithes to the church i’ve always pray “sana may matutulungan na tong ibibigay ko” but its only 1 peso i’m sure malayo na ang narating nung piso na yon..now that i am working i always rememner that simple prayer of mine and i utter that same prayer everytime i give my tithes no matter how much the amount is..God Bless us always

  20. fantastic! i am currently experiencing financial distress, but then reading this story made me realized that i can still give to my God - yes, He don’t need it but it’s a declaration of surrender.

    thanks Bo!

  21. I currently donate to World Visions, mainly because I believe that it is our responsibility to children (even the children of other people) to give them a better future.

This is a great article but we should also remember to teach the people we help to stand on their own, to be responsible for themselves. Many end up relying on other people for the rest of their lives. Let’s help the less fortunate, but we should also make sure they never become parasites.

  22. thank you Bro. Bo for sharing such a wonderful wisdom!

you inspire me everyday! thank u so much!

  23. Amen on this Brother bo! if i may add, if we tithe, we are under God’s protection for it is said in the bible too in malachi, that God will protect whatever assets we have at hand. God is really good!!

  24. Hi Bo,

I wanted to tithe and gave the 10% to the Lord but my parents also need support. Do you think I can use the 10% to support it to my parents need? ‘Coz I know that we have very understanding God so giving 10% to my parents is also like giving 10% to Him. But I also believe that if I give my 10% to Him, He can give more than 10% to my parents.

Could you give me advise the best way to tithe?

    Thanks,

  26. thanks bro bo !

  27. very nice brother bo. thanks thanks! God bless!

  28. Dear Bro. Bo,

    Peace!

I agree with your latest sharing about “SHARING”. Last week, couple of people went to our office asking for some assistance to my boss. (my boss happens to be on of the Auxiliary Bishop of Manila or the other assistant bishop of Cardinal Rosales). It so happened that the Bishop was not around. They are seeking for medical assistance. I immediately referred them to Caritas Manila for immediate action. When the person was about to leave, he turned back to me telling me that if he could asked for pamasahe going to Caritas Manila. Without even thinking, I immediately handed to him a small amount. I don’t know but there’s this wonderful feeling that I experienced. I myself was in financial need also but I feel completeness after what happened. Hope all of us learn the attitude of sharing without expecting in return to attain happiness.

    God bless!

  30. bo, i am a little confused with tithing..should i give my 10% to the church or like 5% to the church and 5% to the other people in need?could that still qualify as tithing(just in case there’s a qualification^_^)?

among all your articles, these last two articles which i recieved “How to create a passive income..” and “Have you received the rewards..” are the ones i really like. it’s so timely. for one thing, i have been praying to GOd to give me a job and i got a job, not just 1 but 2 jobs..now, my next prayer was to find some sort of business venture..and your article about passive income came..and just a few days ago, i actually had some crises in my life..i feel like i am not loved..and your rewards of giving article came..somehow i understood now why i really feel empty and depressed..

i think God is using you to answer my prayers and making my dreams come true.

really bo, thank you.thank you very much.^_^

    Godbless.

  31. i’m also confuse if i give all the 10% to church or i could spread the 10% to church, organizations and to relatives who are in need?

  32. a great morning to you and the rest of your readers bro bo,

i really am very happy to be one of your readers. (just started recently!) it really is a blessing reading your articles specially this one about GIVING!

you see brother bo i am a working mom with a 3 very energetic boys (6,4 and a 3 year old) and i am working very hard to squeeze my time and give quality time with them every single day. And sometimes feeling that they need their tita (she’s the one taking care of them everyday) more than me, even though im home, really breaks my heart.

    Please pray for me!

  33. Hi Bro. Bo,

With all the monthly expenses that i have to attend to and taking into consideration the meager monthly salary i have, i still practice tithing. and I’m GLAD that i did. Tithing comes first before anything else. Just like God comes first before anybody else. And the joy i receive just because of giving is beyond compare. i just practice tithing last January as part of my new year’s resolution. Every month I give 10% of my salary to my community and now my friends started doing the same. It’s nice to know that they too realize that sharing is really really important regardless of what it is that you have and in what social status you belong to.

Thanks for this article. It really fires up the sharing spirit in me. I do hope that others who’ve read this article would also be inspired to share whatever they’ve got.

    God bless us always!!!

  34. for now i cant even say what the kind of giving i was doing. i know i need love (yes! i need love in everyday of my life! so much!), and mostly yes before i realized i was over and over again pleasing other people to love me… and that was really crazy because later on i realize (or should i say GOD find a way for me to realize) that keep pleasing other people just to be accepted (others do take advantage!) is not the right way. i believe we should really have good relationship with GOD first or knowing who is our god is the most valuable steps we should all do, he would teach us everything since he knows everything and can do impossible things for people to do. at the moment, i am in the process of knowing him, and praying that he help me trust him with all my life, lead me on the right path and everything may follow just the way he want things to be and also to glorify him! i want giving be my life style, but the way that i would do it out of love and not to please other people. but for now im confused why i am really doing it. in which of the two kinds of giving. i hope in time i will be in the right way of giving. really, life is good because god is good! he is the life! he is the truth and he is the hope! i want to talk about more … by try to yourself, you would realize that words are not enough to describe what OUR GOD can do to our lives. the happiness and hope and peace. thank you brother Bo! you are really a blessing to us all. thanks for the help! be a more blessing to everyone of us.

  35. bro Bo..i hope that you will this letter..

I first hear you talk during my elementary years( i am now at my 5th year in college(graduating..thnk God))..
..and it was in cebu..i was so amazed of how you talk..and..and..Youre such a blessing Bro.bo…. then it was also the last,..i kept on bragging my parents to attend again,..but they said they were busy..etc..now im sTyding here in manila..i saw you talk in pasig..it was great..i go there once in a while with my aunt and uncle..but with my “LABAHIN” and exams..i seldom remember..i also read your books and magazine..
and my Dream?? is to bulid my own gawad kalinga village..ahhmm..thick as a wall my face would be..but,,can you give me a reply.hehe..?..anything..a simple message would be fine..

  36. Bro. Bo,

I am still supporting my family though I am already married with kids. It’s so hard to make both ends meet. Wit this, do I still need to give 10% to Church? If I give 10% I can no longer support my family. Would I rather help other people than my own?

  37. Bro. Elpidio Biado, it’s very obvious that you are very arrogant pastor of another church. I am not surprised on your comment. But such arrogance is not of the Lord. Your comment reflects that you misunderstood the article. Anyway, read the other comments and see that a lot of the people are blessed with the article.

    God bless!

  38. I must admit that I have been selfish years ago, until I was inflicted with dengue. I received lots of loving and generous support from my family, relatives and friends. I needed 12 bags of blood to replace my losing wbc. I was so touched that at least 16-20 volunteered to donate. I shed much tears because its through that experience that I saw the beauty of giving. Indeed, giving is much beautiful experience, than receiving. God bless you more Brother Bo.

  39. hi, bro. BO. . . indeed! GOD works in mysterious ways. . we have had our shortcomings but still we tend to lend a hand to one’s who needed it. . . we may expect nothing in return but GOD still rewards us in his ways. . . thanks so much for all your sharings. . . i just hope that in time i can also share mine too! GOD bless! keep on inspiring US!

  40. Hi Bro. Bo,

You’re really such an inspiration to us!

    Keep up the good faith.

  41. before iam also confused about 10% tithing i asked my friends about this…she said whatever she receives..meron na siyang itinatabi 10% of it and it goes to church directly…inaabot daw niya minsan sa priest nila.At tunay na tunay hindi siya kinakapos.GOD really provides for their needs.Another friend of mine says yung pagbibigay sa mga nangangailangan tulad sa mga charity…it is also a form of tithe giving….ang mahalaga bukal at taos sa puso yung pagbibigay hindi lang dahil obligasyon natin yun….lets give back to the LORD more than what HE deserves…at pagpapalain niya tayo ng lubos….

  42. Hello Bro.Bo,
Sinabi mo pa, napakasarap maging generous, ang sarap ng feeling, pinaparactis ko talaga yan and i really witness your testimony, the more i give the more i recieved at di ko pansin kung 10% na basta me kaya akong ibigay at itulong nagbibigay ako.in fact i am sharing my blessings with your kerygma, last year i was only giving 500 a month, napakaraming ibinabalik ng dyos sa akin although me mga taong nagsasamantala sa kabaitan ko kung minsan di ko na pinapansin yun kasi alam ko hindi ako pababayaan ng dyos,at kahit kailan na nangailangan ako di pa ako napabayaan, and so i decided to double the amount last jan, at totoo ka,lalo ko nararamdaman ang pagmamahal ng dyos sa akin, maligaya din ang pamilya namin kasi katulad mo nag iinvest kami ng oras at pagmamahal sa aming mga mahal sa buhay.
thank you so much for all the inspiration you are giving us,
may god continue to bless you more

  43. You did it again bro. God is good, because He gave us a Prophet, in this 21st century. His name was Bo.

Giving is really wonderful. Not just in treasure, but also in our time and talent as well. As for me and my family, we’re always trying to go for an extra mile with regards to tithes. Because we believe, our God is not trying but always giving His extra miles to us, in the form of blessings, miracles and healing everyday. God is expanding our territory bro. Blessings are everywhere, I can see the pictures in bold and clear views, because maybe there’s a lot of space we provide for our God. Our God is so BIG that our problems became as tiny as dot. He is our real treasure. Jesus is enough for me and my wife. And when He gave us our son Elijah, a very cute, handsome, good looking (like his dad.. waaaah), intelligent and godly child, more great things happened to us. Sometimes, I ask God if He is calling me na. Because everything is going well. I’m so relax with the Lord. I always felt that He’s in control over our life, especially in my family and business life. He’s in control and I’m just the one who’s in-charge. A steward or manager. Kaya lahat ng ito ay inaalay namin mag asawa pabalik sa kanya. In our business, we focus not on the profit really, but on the service we can provide with our employees, clients and our God.

Genuine givers knows the true meaning of LOVE.

Thanks for teaching us the 10-20-70 principle bro. We’re aiming for at lease 80-20. And we plan to give the 80% to LOJ.

  46. Hi Bro. Bo!

Thank you for this very inspiring article. It reminds us that giving because of love is a very fulfilling thing to do. It is giving without expecting something in return. Even in our own little way of sharing our blessings to others, i know it is already of great value to God.

  47. Amen amen amen..

praise the Lord God for His infinite LOVE..

  48. Hi Kuya Bo,

I haven’t seen you in person but I’m always amaze to read your inspiring articles. I’ve started working last November and honestly, I’m not yet practicing tithing and this article reminded me of that.

  51. Wonderful story brother Bo. Sharing is indeed good and I would like to thank you for sharing this insights.

  52. Many will be inspired with your posts. I keep reading your stories, they are amazing.

  53. bro. bo:

this article (and in fact most of your articles) is surely an eye opener to me to be always generous, to give with love, which also one of my flaws, human as i am.

you are really a guiding angel to me. thanks so much.

  54. i hope it’s not too late for me to make up with my omissions. please pray for me to be generous not only on materials things but also with my love and care.

  55. Hi Bro. Bo,

Thanks for the message of generosity; the “authentic one”.

From now on I’ll start asking God to love me and of course I’ll never forget to love myself, because if nobody does then who else? but me.

    Peace & Love

  56. hi bro.. I agree.. Generosity should come from the heart.. You know what, ever since i\’ve worked, all i did was to give almost everything.. to my family.. to my friends.. but why do i get hurt.. i know i\’m giving it with love or it\’s because they just need it so i give.. i don\’t really understand and i don\’t know what anymore.. i just wish people would understand what i feel.. i\’m happy and fulffilled in giving but taking advantage is really different.. Please help me understand..

  57. Hi Bro Bo,

Thanks for sharing again this amazing article. It is really an “eye opener” to those who don’t think of others but themselves….

It really feels good when you give especially if it is out of love…I always do this to my family and sometimes to my friends who are in need.

Despite my average salary I can still share it. I won’t worry for tomorrow because it is already taken cared of by our generous God.

This article also reminds me to resume my tithing…I missed giving my tithes for quite sometimes..

Thank you for reminding me! God bless us always

    rona

  60. You said:

All this time, I’ve never written back.
I guess it’s not just my style.
But I think it’s high time I should write something.

    I said:

That should be the attitude of a man of God. Like St Paul & Stephen.

The Acts 9:29 And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

The Acts 6:9 Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

    You said:

They would want me to answer back with some more spunk and defend myself. Nah. I repeat: It’s not my style.

Why are you afraid to dispute?

Luke 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Unless you are a fake teacher of the law.

Parang gusto nyo po talagang mag ‘dispute’ kayo no Bo,well i think he’s not going to buy it.Sorry.

  62. Mr. Bo wii nakakainspired po ang inyong mga post, actually saktong sakto po sa mga naiisip ko..salamat po..salamat LORD!!

  63. To: Francia,

  64. dear bro bo.

godbless you..yes your true, i agree with you..because i received also my rewards..thank you for sending me this blog..thank you so much..

  65. Why some people commented you a negative replies brother Bo? T_T

Anyways, thank you very much brother Bo
    for your inspiring articles=]

    God bless us all

  68. Hi Bro. Bo,

    Good day!

In response to your recent newsletter, keep inspiring people. Never give up. If you have 1% critics, you have 99% God who believes in you. Plus, your family. And all the people who trust and believe in you.

Bro Bo, please take time to read my blog entitled “How Bo Sanchez Changed My Entire Life” at http://BroPerry.blogspot.com. I hope it would inspire you more as well. =)

  69. Hi Bro. Bo,

Thank you again for the very inspiring article.

I really agree with you Bro. Bo that when you give or share anything out of your love, you’ll surely cannot measure your happiness especially if the receiver is too happy as well.

For me, giving is loving at the same time, no expectations for a return and it is not conditional. As Mother Teresa imparted to us, love until it hurts.

Likewise, I believe so much in tithing because I have been practicing it for 10 years now. I would say that I received more than what I expected abundantly.

Thank you so much again Bro. Bo.

God bless us more and our family.

  70. Hi Bro Bo.

I just want to say thank you for inspiring me every day.

I’m just 20 years old, but I did your 30-day retreat (Live like a dying man) and it completely changed my life.
I’ve been taking for granted the life given to me before I had the personal retreat. But now, I treasure every single second of it.

[My family even thought I was suicidal. Since I was suddenly mushy and hugging them every chance I got. I even got them presents that I was postponing to give to them. Hehe. :)]

Today is my 30th day. And my life has been so blessed for the last 29 days. I’m not the religious type of person, i don’t even pray the Rosary (sorry about that..) but still, I think that this retreat really brought me closer to God, closer to my family and friends. (and even strangers..) I think it made me change into a better person. I really thank you for that.

There are memories that I would treasure forever because of this retreat. I’m even one of those people you hugged two weeks ago from The Feast. It was my first time being there, and see how blessed I was receiving an embrace from you and more embrace from people who I don’t know personally, but still I felt their love for me through that embrace. The Feast is truly a one big happy loving family of God. :)

There are more stories and memories I have because of the 30-day retreat. But I’m afraid I would bore you. HAHA! I’ll just keep the stories in my journal. ;p

I just really want to say thank you for being you. And inspiring us to become closer to God. As Father Alex said on the homily, (when I attended) We follow you, because you follow Jesus. Such an inspiration! :)

And if I’ll be given another day. Or another year or even another decade, I would still live like this. Being blessed with Life and Love every single day.

Love you Bro. Bo. And truly, thank you! ^_^

A reply from you would be a bonus blessing! Hehe.

    P.S:
I’m a newly nursing graduate and took the June 2009 nursing licensure exam(NLE). The results are not yet posted.
I honestly don’t know if I would pass or not. I’m really anxious about it. Still I believe that with God anything is possible.
Kindly pray that I would pass the NLE, and become a registered nurse. And please include also all the students who took the same exam. You’re prayers would mean so much to us. Thank you! :)

  71. Hi Kuya Bo!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful article. The truth is, I don’t really give 10% to God. Thank you for reminding us. I pray that my outlook about tithing will be change starting today. To give more to God, the ultimate source of everything I have right now, good things and blessings.

    Thank you.

    Your fan,

    Riza

  72. I passed the board exam!
    Thank You for the prayers.
    Super bilis ng sagot!
    I’m so blessed!!

Congrats to all those who made it :)

I pray for strength for those who didn’t. :(

    Praise the Lord. THank YOU!!

    weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
    ^_^

I coudn’t have done it without Jesus by my side, taking the exam with me! :)
I’m just so happy I want to share this to everyone!!

  73. Giving is prompted by love. Joy is the reward of giving. Giving without love is vain giving. ” Even if you offer your body to be burnt , if you do not have love, it is nothing…” by St. Paul to the Corinthians. ” Do not let your left hand know what the right hand is doing, for God Who sees what you do in secret will reward you…” Jesus ‘ ever living Word.
” No love is greater than for one to give up his life for a friend . ” — True to his Word, Jesus had given up His life on the Cross for love of us ! May He teach us how to love.
Thanks Bro. Bo for this wonderful space.
    Have a good day everyone!

  74. Thanks Bro. Bo, and congrats to Kim. I know how it feels girl, the happiness you have in your heart for the triumph of making the board exam. God is really good all the time.
